Stock Your Shelves: October Releases

HAPPY OCTOBER! I always love doing these posts, since it lets me see all the books that are coming out in the coming month that I should keep an eye out for. It’s almost always all fiction, but this month I have five nonfiction books that I wanted to share with you!

Never Can Say Goodbye: Writers on Their Unshakable Love for New York, edited by Sari Bottom: A collection of essays by various writers on why they will always Love New York. (October 14)

Yes Please by Amy Poehler: Is there anyone who isn’t excited for this? (Or maybe it’s me. I may have preordered this in August). Amy Poehler follows in the footsteps of Tiny Fey and Mindy Kaling in her first memoir. (October 28)

The Secret History of Wonder Woman by Jill Lepore: The most popular female superhero of all time, uncovered. Jill Lepore reveals the history and origin of the iconic Wonder Woman, after finding documents and papers left behind by her creator,William Moulton Marston. (October 28)

Neil Patrick Harris: Choose Your Own Autobiography by Neil Patrick Harris: Another one that promises to be hilarious, NPH let’s the reader take control of his memoir: Choose correctly and you’ll find fame, fortune, and true love. Choose incorrectly and you’ll find misery, heartbreak, and a guest stint on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. All this, plus magic tricks, cocktail recipes, embarrassing pictures from your time as a child actor, and even a closing song. (From Goodreads. October 14)

Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis by Barbara Leaming: A new biography that sheds a new light on Jackie O, largely in the aftermath of her husband’s tragic death. I personally can’t wait for this because I’ve always been a little fascinated with her and JFK (I have Stephen King’s 11/22/63 to thank for increasing that even more) (October 28)

What are you most excited for this month, fiction or nonfiction!

  1. I’m dying to read Yes Please! I preordered the audio since Amy’s narrating it. NPH’s memoir looks tempting too- such a unique format! There are more tempting non-fiction titles lately, aren’t there? Or maybe my tastes are changing. Happy October reading! Looking forward to comparing notes with you 🙂
